Multi-domain communication management systems are distributed networks with many points of entry which allow for back-up and continued operation even in the event of a single-point failure. They also integrate diverse network technologies such as ATM and SDH into a hybrid network. These features are important in today's global economy, where corporations and organizations exist and operate across many national and geographic boundaries. Based on over three years of work compiled by the MISA project staff, it covers specification, architecture, implementation, troubleshooting, and results of this complex but important network technology.
